crazy *loading* times over
My cousin's 21st was Saturday last. It was at the Met, in the valley. The oldies didn't appreciate the low-lighting and loud music, but my god, it was funky! The decor was very Bohemian slash asian influence that is the new style. It was awesome :D I stayed there for a bit, chatting to Lisa's friends, and trying to join a conversation where I knew none of the people being discussed nor the circumstances with which they "ended up making out in the corner"... So yeah :S But one of Kelly's friends (my bi/dyke cousin) turned out to be really laid-back, and easy to talk to, so I chatted to her, and my other cousin Mathew before Ena arrived, and we headed to the Beat. Ran into Lupe there, and got up dancing the night away until 1am.
Tropfest was the next night, and Emily and I ran amok in Southbank, after I found nail polish and liquid eyeliner are fantastic face-paint. We saw the Dragon Dance at Obsession and danced our way down the pathways. Unfortunately I misplaced my keys, and thought I had lost them, which kinda killed my mood unfortunately. They turned up later in my huge bag, wrapped in a spare shirt.
Worked Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night. Saw Little Britain Tuesday night. OMG *Dies* it was so funny!! especially the little side-tracks to the skits, that just got out of control. Wednesday caught up with Matt and went shopping @ Chermside.
Saturday is another 21st, of which I don't really know the person... ah vell.. Should be fun nonetheless..
Wonderful.
My mother has decided I am slovenly, and scowl at everything she says... ergo we are not as close as we used to be, and this is cause for much mourning, such as cleaning up after dinner. Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either...
hmm more news later. when i have motivation...
Wow! I really can't bodyboard. Oops. Le crap.
Caloundra was really awesome, though. Thus, my Valentine's was spent well, considering. Rachel and I drove up there, some of which consisted of 30 seconds of pouring rain, followed by bone dry road, with spots of drizzle. But it was completely clear skies once we got there. Once we found the backpackers joint, (after going around in circles a few times) and Rachel convinced me to stay the night, ($23 I thought was pretty cheap) we had lunch and borrowed some boogieboards and headed to the beach. The waves were really strong, and even trying to avoid getting hit, my legs were swept from under me. Even Rachel said it was unusually crazy, which made me feel a little better about being clobbered so often. There were too many times that I lost complete footing, or tried to go over a wave, and ended up being smacked in the face with the board, only then to go tumbling knees around my ears in the wake of the wave. So we abandoned the boards and tried body surfing, which was a little easier. I gave up when I had saltwater in the back of my throat and all up my nose. Boy, was I glad to get back to the room.
The rooms were nice though, and everything was remarkably well-kept. And I certainly enjoyed a break and a random drive. And random deep conversations, that kept us up til 2-3am. And talking to German strangers about the difference in cultures etc.
On the whole, I feel pretty damn good. Wow, that is a change.
I love West End! I so want to live there someday. As long as it's away from the main strip. Or maybe not live there in West End, but nearby. I love the mix of people and cultures and the eclectic atmosphere. It's like walking from one country to the next, passing restaurant after cafe, from laid-back Bohemian to joyful Greek to upmarket Anglo-saxon. Quite literally a melting pot of everything.
I went to dinner at a vegatarian/vegan restaurant in West End with Lupe last night. I must say I was sceptical and slightly put off by the thought of tofu etc, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was really really good. I enjoyed the meal better there than most places where I had paid twice the price, and was comfortable with the food choice. The muso's weren't the best, and the style was rather bizzare. But they had a huge sculpture hanging from the ceiling, made of what looked like wrought iron. It looked awesome! We had the occasional drunk/druggie walk past, but nothing the employees couldn't handle. And nothing we couldn't avoid with quick walking in the other direction.
Anyway, once I got home I called Rachel, and talked until 3am. Deep and meaingful... or not so. And then got online and chatted til 4. So on the whole, it was a brilliant night. Pity I had a 11:30 doc appointment this morning. But that went well too, apart from the waking up early bit.
Ballantine's Day tonight! That should be tres bien and awesomeness, here's hoping! And I may well be going to Caloundra Wednesday with Rachel. Simply because we are both single and want to escape the celebration of a such a day. I for one don't know what to do with myself that day. So driving an hour away sounds pretty good in keeping out of trouble and not doing anything stupid and irrational.
And work Tuesday and Thursday, so I should be able to make up the money I lost in the speeding fine.
Oh and my cousin's 21st Saturday night. Clubbing!! :D
AND AND AND the 20th is next tuesday AND AND OMG!!! LITTLE BRITAIN LIVE *squeals* ....
ok. I won't do that again. But I'm so excited!! :D :D

ARGH!!! I was just going home from a particularly embarrassing and invasive doctor's appointment (don't ya love women's problems?) and I get pulled over by a motorcycle cop. Doing 82km/hr in a 60km/hr zone.
NO ONE does 60 on Bronson Road!! No one I tell you! (which was probably why he was sitting there) $250 and 4 points later... I am so pissed off. So much for saving for this damn holiday.
Bastards....
